About Marina

Five years ago, my life changed overnight. After a spinal cord injury, I became a wheelchair user — and suddenly found myself navigating a world that wasn’t built for me. Before that, I had lived and breathed sport. I was an Ironman triathlete, obsessed with pushing my limits and exploring what the human body could do. Sport gave me discipline, community, and confidence — and I wasn’t ready to lose that.

The transition wasn’t easy, but it gave me a new mission. I realised how many barriers still exist for disabled people who want to stay active — from inaccessible gyms and untrained staff to the absence of representation in marketing and media. I wanted to change that.

Professionally, I’ve spent over 15 years working across marketing, communications, and sport, collaborating with global brands, creative agencies, and non-profits to tell stories that drive change. Today, I’m the Disability Sports Lead at MATTA, a creative advertising agency where I help organisations make their campaigns, partnerships, and experiences more inclusive. I also founded FAST Adaptive Fashion, an athleisure brand designed for disabled people, and serve as a trustee at HF Mencap and a volunteer with Regain Sports Charity, supporting people with spinal cord injuries to rebuild their confidence through sport.

In 2025, I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for my project Inclusive Fitness, which explores how gyms and fitness providers around the world can better serve people with disabilities. My journey will take me across Australia, Canada, and the USA, learning from inclusive fitness initiatives, adaptive athletes, and digital platforms to shape practical recommendations for the UK.

Beyond my work, I’m a competitive handcyclist, racing in World Cups and international events. Sport remains my freedom — a space where I can connect, compete, and challenge perceptions of what’s possible.

My goal is simple: to make sure every person, with or without disability, can experience that same sense of belonging, empowerment, and joy through sport.

I delivered projects for a range of brands

I worked with global brands, public bodies, and charities.
